South Korea's Gyeongnam Province is undertaking a project to restore its inland water ecosystem by releasing 100,000 young salmon and 20,000 silverfish into the Hwagaecheon area. The fish, raised at the Gyeongnam Provincial Freshwater Fish Research Center and inspected for infectious diseases, are part of a larger plan to release 200,000 salmon and 100,000 silverfish across seven cities and counties. The initiative aims to restore and create inland water resources, research high-value fish species, and boost the income of inland fishermen.
