A poultry farm in Seosan, South Chungcheong Province, has been found to have H5-type avian influenza, potentially making it the fifth case of highly pathogenic AI at a South Korean poultry farm this winter. The Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency is currently testing the strain for its level of pathogenicity. In response, the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters is implementing quarantine measures such as access control, culling, and epidemiological investigations at the affected farm and other previously impacted farms. Farmers are urged to report any symptoms to the quarantine authorities.
