According to the news department of the Ministry of Agriculture, this batch of wheat was sent by grain receiving enterprises from Akmola Oblast via container train. This transportation used a multimodal transport model: the wheat was first transported by rail to the Dostyk-Alashankou border port, then transported within China to Lianyungang International Port, and subsequently shipped by sea to Haiphong Port in Vietnam.
Aslerkhan Zhuvashulov, Chairman of the Board of the Grain Union State Company, stated that this export is of milestone significance for the company. Entering the Southeast Asian market is an important step in promoting Kazakhstani agricultural products' "going out" strategy and achieving export diversification.
Over the past five years, as a national-level operator, we have exported approximately 200,000 tons of grain to China annually to consolidate our position in this priority market. This year, we plan to expand export regions to achieve total volume growth. Currently, we have shipped 60,000 tons of food wheat to Morocco. The Southeast Asian market has enormous potential and broad prospects for Kazakhstani agricultural product producers, he said.
It is worth noting that Kazakhstan's last grain export to Vietnam was in 2017, when the export volume was only 720 tons.
According to previous reports, in the 2024-2025 crop year (from last September to this April), Kazakhstan's grain and flour exports (calculated in grain equivalent) reached approximately 10 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 37.4%.
