The inaugural Olive Oil World Congress (OOWC) will take place from June 26 to 28, 2024, at the Higher Scientific Research Council (CSIC) in Madrid. This event will bring together international experts to discuss innovations, challenges, and opportunities in the olive oil sector. A key feature will be a round table on the perspectives of the olive sector in southern and eastern Mediterranean countries, moderated by Lhassane Sikaoui of the International Olive Council (IOC). The panel will include experts from various organizations such as the FAO, Tuzmir Olive Research Institute, Olive Grove Institute in Tunisia, National Agrarian Research Institute of Morocco, and the IOC Advisory Committee. The congress aims to foster collaboration, innovation, and knowledge exchange to tackle challenges like climate change and promote growth in the olive industry.
