Hungarian venison is highly sought after in export markets, with about 90% of processed venison being purchased by foreign partners. Hungary has a diverse game population, including big game such as roe deer, red deer, wild boar, fallow deer, and mouflon, as well as small game like hares and pheasants. Despite its health benefits and unique taste, domestic consumption of game meat in Hungary is still low, with the average Hungarian consuming only 10 dekagrams of venison per year.
