Import is pushing out Polish potatoes – warns Wielkopolska Agricultural Chamber (WIR). It demands controls in retail chains regarding the labeling of potatoes in terms of country of origin. The Chamber draws attention to the very difficult situation in the potato market in Poland. Currently, purchase prices are exceptionally low, which, with steadily rising production costs, causes this crop to be unprofitable. Many farmers face the real threat of giving up production, and in the longer term, this may negatively affect the country's food security.
