In Bismil, the harvest of "white gold" has begun.

The cotton production season was launched with a harvest event in Aralık village, which is part of Bismil district of Diyarbakır. Speaking at the event, Diyarbakır Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Adil Alan referred to the vital role of cotton, known as 'white gold', in the regional economy, stating, "Bismil is the heart of Diyarbakır's cotton production. In the 2025 season, out of the total 772 thousand decares of cotton area in the province, 400 thousand 648 decares are located in Bismil district alone. This indicates that approximately 52 percent of the province's cotton presence is met by Bismil. An average yield of 480-500 kilograms per decare is expected for this season in the district.
