[Korea Farmers' News Agency, Reporter Song Hae-chang] Seosan City in South Chungcheong Province is providing additional non-woven fabric support to garlic farmers to prevent damage during the garlic growing period in winter. According to the city, the garlic planting season is from September to October, but this year, frequent rains have caused it to be delayed compared to previous years. There is concern that the garlic may not establish roots before winter, leading to potential damage. The city has allocated 160 million won to provide non-woven fabric that can cover 114 hectares of garlic fields. Applications for the support can be made through the administrative welfare centers in towns, townships, and neighborhoods until the 31st of this month. Kim Gap-sik, the director of the Seosan Agricultural Technology Center, stated, "Non-woven fabric is effective for maintaining warmth and humidity," and added, "This support will alleviate the concerns of garlic farmers."
