(Taean=Yonhap News) Reporter Kang Su-hwan = Two forest fires broke out consecutively in Taean, South Chungcheong during the night.
According to the South Chungcheong Fire Headquarters and others, a forest fire broke out in a mountain in Seungeon-ri, Anmyeon-eup, Taean-gun at around 8:42 PM yesterday.
Forestry authorities deployed 34 fire trucks and over 120 personnel, extinguishing the fire at around 10:33 PM.
The fire burned 0.9 hectares of forest.
The fire in a mountain in Yangsan-ri, Wonbuk-myeon, Taean, which broke out at around 4:50 AM, was extinguished at around 6:30 AM.
There were no casualties from the forest fires, and forestry authorities are investigating the cause of the fires.
The Korea Forest Service urged that "even small fires can spread into large forest fires if neglected, so it is necessary to strictly prohibit illegal burning of garbage and agricultural by-products and to thoroughly manage fire sources."
