Several countries including India, Russia, Uzbekistan, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Qatar have banned the import of Iranian fruits and vegetables due to concerns over mold and excessive pesticide residues. India has stopped accepting certificates issued by Iran's agricultural organizations and demands their own standards to be met. In 2020, Iran exported $6.5 billion in agricultural products. The ban includes Iranian kiwi, which does not meet India's safety standards, impacting the country’s trade. Iranian trade associations have urged their Ministry of Agriculture to improve standards to avoid losing more agricultural markets.
