India is set to achieve a record sugar production in the next marketing year, starting from October, due to an expansion in sugarcane cultivation by millions of farmers. This expansion is attributed to favorable harvest conditions and lower prices for other crops. The country's water reservoirs are at full capacity, and monsoon rains have been favorable, providing better conditions for sugarcane growth. As a result, India may resume exports in 2025/26, following two years of restrictions due to lack of rain and reduced yields. The increase in production is expected to have an impact on global prices, especially with Brazil struggling due to drought.
