The Ministry of Rural Development and Land instructed the National Service of Agricultural Health and Food Safety (Senasag) to audit the export certificates for meat issued to Russia, following allegations of alleged irregularities committed by a company in Santa Cruz. “We have instructed Senasag to audit all the certificates that have been issued for exports. We have had some allegations, evidently, that irregularities would be occurring,” Minister Yamil Flores informed at a press conference. The allegations come from meat workers, who for two months have accused the BFC slaughterhouse of maintaining meat exports despite the Government prohibiting the authorization of new certificates to supply the external market between February and June of this year. The case gained relevance on September 25, when journalist Carlos Valverde reported that BFC had incurred in “irregularities” that led to the suspension of its exports by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
