The General Administration of Customs of China has permitted the import of fresh apples from Iran, subject to specific quarantine requirements to safeguard against pests. These regulations include audits and approvals of orchards, packaging plants, and cold treatment facilities by both Chinese and Iranian authorities. The requirements also stipulate the implementation of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and Integrated Pest Management (IPM), cold treatment for fruit fly prevention, and post-export inspections. This development is part of Iran's strategy to boost non-oil exports, particularly agricultural products, with apple exports reaching 27 countries, including China, in the 2021/22 season.
