Despite the government's efforts to control the spread of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) through a ban on intercity animal movements and the closure of livestock exchanges, unregulated animal trading and slaughtering are still taking place in Diyarbakir, Turkey. These illegal activities are allowing the disease to persist, despite the risks to public and animal health. This situation is aggravated by the non-enforcement of the ban and the lack of inspections, leading to increased meat prices in the market.
