Japan is positioning itself as an attractive market for Peruvian blueberries, driven by the growing interest of its consumers in healthy and functional foods. This trend coincides with Peru's ability to offer sustainable and high-quality production, reported the Association of Exporters (ADEX). In 2024, global blueberry imports amounted to $7351 million, a 30% increase from 2023 ($5668 million). The ranking of the main buyers was led by the United States, the Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom, Canada, China, Spain, and Hong Kong, all with increases of over 20%. Japan ranked 26th, with an increase of 6%. Its population consumes fresh, frozen, dehydrated, juice, jam, and supplement blueberries. Its main suppliers are the United States, Mexico, Chile, Canada, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, New Zealand, and China.
