According to statistics from the Vietnam Customs General Department, in June 2025, Vietnam exported 67,930 tons of cashews, with an export value of 464 million USD, a month-on-month decrease of 16.3% and 15.8% respectively, and a year-on-year increase of 5.9% and 21.7% respectively. This marks three consecutive months of year-on-year export growth, with the average export price continuing to rise strongly to 6,825 USD/ton, a month-on-month increase of 14.9% and a year-on-year increase of 0.5%. In the first half of the year, Vietnam exported 344,600 tons of cashews, with an export value of 2.34 billion USD, a year-on-year decrease in export volume of 3.3% and a year-on-year increase in export value of 19.8%, with an average monthly export price of 6,812 USD/ton, a year-on-year increase of 23.9%.
In June, China, the United States, the Netherlands, Germany, and the United Arab Emirates were Vietnam's top five cashew export markets. Except for the United States and Germany, the remaining markets saw an increase in cashew exports year-on-year. Vietnam's cashew exports to China continued to grow, reaching 17,400 tons, with an export value of 111 million USD, a year-on-year increase of 46.6% and 62.6% respectively, accounting for 25.68% of the total cashew exports for that month. In the first half of the year, Vietnam exported a cumulative 83,100 tons of cashews to China, with an export value of 526 million USD, a year-on-year increase of 26% and 45% respectively. Meanwhile, Vietnam's cashew exports to the United States continued to decline significantly, with an export volume of 10,300 tons and an export value of 68.56 million USD, a year-on-year decrease of 40.4% and 31.6% respectively. In the first half of the year, Vietnam exported 70,100 tons of cashews to the United States, with an export value of 475 million USD, a year-on-year decrease of 25.2% and 6.2% respectively. Although the United States remains Vietnam's second-largest cashew market, the continued decline may impact Vietnam's long-term cashew exports to the U.S. market. Vietnam's cashew exports to Saudi Arabia, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, Russia, Thailand, Lithuania, Belgium, Egypt, and other markets saw very positive year-on-year growth. Among them, exports to Lithuania increased by 145.7% in volume and 160.8% in value; exports to Belgium increased by 244.9% in volume and 383% in value, indicating that efforts to diversify cashew export markets are beginning to bear fruit as traditional markets decline. Vietnam's cashew exports to China, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Lithuania, Japan, Singapore, Norway, and other markets saw positive growth, but exports to the United States, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Australia, Iraq, Russia, Canada, Spain, Thailand, and other traditional markets saw significant year-on-year declines.
In the next step, Vietnamese enterprises need to fully utilize the opportunities in the Chinese market and other Asian countries; regain market share in the United States through improving quality, price competitiveness, and strengthening brand promotion; strengthen quality control and traceability to meet the standards of the Japanese and European markets.
