Kamchatka authorities report a significant shortfall in the salmon catch, particularly pink and sockeye salmon, for the current summer fishing season due to unfavorable weather conditions. Only 60% of the expected pink salmon have reached the eastern coast, and the sockeye salmon forecast for the Kamchatka River was inaccurate. The All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography provides scientific support, and sustainable fishing practices are followed, including periodic bans to ensure spawning. Despite efforts to combat poaching, it remains an issue. The Eastern Economic Forum, focusing on the Far East's socio-economic development, is being held in Vladivostok from September 3 to 6, 2024.
