Kazakhstan has imposed a ban on the import of apples by road until the end of the year to support its domestic apple production and farmers. The ban, approved by the Interdepartmental Commission on Foreign Trade Policy and Participation in International Economic Organizations, will not affect imports from EAEU member states and the international transit of apples through the country. The Ministry of Agriculture highlighted the difficulties faced by Kazakhstani gardeners due to the parallel import of apples during the harvest season and the significant increase in apple imports, especially from China and Iran, in the first seven months of 2024. The ban is intended to allow domestic gardeners to sell their products at reasonable prices during the harvest period.
