La Libertad: seeking to promote safety and health in the workplace in the agroindustrial sector

(Agraria.pe) An international communication campaign aimed at promoting occupational safety and health in the agro-industrial sector is being developed by the International Labour Organization (ILO) in the La Libertad region, with the support of the Government of Canada, and the participation of the National Superintendence of Labor Inspection (Sunafil). The campaign seeks to disseminate risk management in the workplace and support mechanisms for those working in the agricultural sector, one of the most exposed to occupational hazards. The initiative focuses on the production chains of blueberries and grapes, which are the main agro-export products in Virú and Chao, localities in the La Libertad department. In this jurisdiction, agricultural workers and small producers face barriers to accessing key information to prevent accidents, occupational diseases, and to activate support or reporting mechanisms.
