A law requires all cattle and pigs on Russian farms to be registered and entered into a federal database by September 1, 2024. However, many private household plots and farms in the Rostov Region have not met this deadline. The Interregional Department of Rosselkhoznadzor is urging the Rostov Regional Association of Peasant (Farm) Farms to encourage compliance. The deadline to meet veterinary requirements is not expected to be met until 2026. Unregistered animals may lead to administrative liability and potential restrictions on selling livestock products. Currently, a significant portion of cattle and pigs in the Rostov Region are not registered with the federal government.
