A survey by the Korea Rural Economic Institute reveals a 20.7% increase in the purchase of imported chicken last year, with the average household purchasing 1.50 kg of chicken per month, up 4.7% from the previous year. The proportion of domestic chicken purchased was 4.2% higher year-on-year at 1.48 kg, while imported chicken increased by 20.7% to 1.35 kg. The Rural Development Administration anticipates a decrease in chicken imports this year due to quota tariffs, but the surge in purchased imported chicken raises concerns. The survey also indicated that 'smoked duck' is the most popular way to consume duck meat, with some respondents planning to consume it more often this year, while the Rural Development Administration forecasts a significant decrease in duck imports this year.
