The Ukrainian Fruit and Vegetable Association (UPOA) has reported a surge in the import of frozen elderberries from Ukraine to the EU and Japan. However, due to the current illegal status of cultivating elderberries on agricultural land in Ukraine, the supply does not meet the demand, which is likely to be temporary. Despite the demand, particularly driven by the pandemic, the high cost of cultivation and the availability of wild berries make it unlikely for elderberry farming to become widespread in Ukraine.
