Legumes and soybean oil lead increases in the South

The survey "Price Variations: Brazil & Regions," prepared by Neogrid, indicates that vegetables and soybean oil led the price increases in the South of the country in September. Soybean oil, essential in Brazilian kitchens, rose from R$ 8.75 in August to R$ 9.28, an increase of 6%. In the South, the increase was even higher: 7%, driven by agricultural costs and climatic fluctuations. The research reveals that other agricultural products also registered advances. Coffee increased by 4.4% in the month, while vegetables and beer had increases of 4.2% and 3.9%, respectively. Adverse weather conditions and the uneven progress of the 2025/26 crop planting, especially in the Midwest and Southeast, contributed to the pressure on prices. On the other hand, basic items showed moderate declines, signaling a possible relief for the consumer.
