The national government's decision to modify withholdings on exports in the agroindustrial sector has caused controversy, particularly in the lemon and its byproducts industry in Tucumán and the Northwest. The Argentine Northwest Citrus Association (ACNOA) is concerned about the impact of the imposed 15% export withholdings on citrus products, which could jeopardize the sector's international competitiveness and the livelihood of thousands of families in the region. Despite other regional economies being excluded from the increase in export taxes, lemon producers feel discriminated against and demand the authorities reconsider their treatment of the citrus sector.
