The European Union Commission has lowered its estimate of the durum wheat harvest for the 2020/21 marketing year to 7.2 million tons, a decrease of 80,000 tons from the previous estimate, due to a correction in the harvest area in Greece. This makes it the smallest durum wheat harvest in the EU in the past two decades, potentially limiting export opportunities and slowing down deliveries to third countries, which have been significantly reduced compared to the previous year. Import of durum wheat has increased by 44% compared to the previous year, with Canada, the USA, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Turkey being the main suppliers.
