Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has urged for a reduction in the country's reliance on imported apples, instead promoting local production. During a visit to a fruit-growing farm in the Minsk region, he ordered the Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade, Alexei Bogdanov, to conduct a thorough market analysis. Lukashenko also expressed a need for improved storage facilities and stated his readiness to support the expansion of the apple business, aiming to meet domestic needs and explore export opportunities. The Ministry of Agriculture reported a 66% decrease in apple imports and a 66% increase in sales of domestically produced apples last year.
