(Iksan=Yonhap News) Reporter Baek Do-in = The "Iksan Sweet Potato Mozzarella Burger and Muffin" launched in collaboration between Iksan City and McDonald's Korea has surpassed 2.4 million units sold in just one month, continuously breaking records.
According to Iksan City on the 11th, the Iksan Sweet Potato Burger, a new menu under McDonald's Korea's "Taste of Korea" project, recently set a sales record of 2.4 million units.
This follows the previous records of selling 500,000 units in four days and 1 million units in nine days since its launch.
The Taste of Korea project, which McDonald's Korea has been promoting since 2021, aims to provide fresh and delicious menus to customers using high-quality domestic ingredients and to invigorate local farms.
Iksan City analyzes that the unique taste, combining the soft and sweet Iksan sweet potatoes with savory mozzarella cheese and spicy mayonnaise, is a factor driving its popularity.
The success of the Iksan Sweet Potato Burger is also playing a significant role in revitalizing the local economy.
200 tons of Iksan sweet potatoes have been consumed, and the amount raised through the Hometown Love Donation has exceeded 200 million won.
Mayor Jeong Heon-yul expressed gratitude for the support and stated that they plan to accelerate the expansion of sweet potato supply and distribution networks based on this achievement.
