Inflation in Argentina has led to a significant increase in the price of meat, with some cuts now costing over $1,000 per kilo. The Institute for the Promotion of Argentine Beef (IPCVA) reported a average price increase of 71.8% in the past year, although this is less than the overall inflation rate. Some popular cuts, such as chicken, have seen especially large price increases. The price of beef has risen by 66.5% compared to last year in butcher shops, while supermarket prices have increased by 85.2%. Some cuts are significantly more expensive in supermarkets than in butcher shops.
