Brazilian meat industry sees positive scenario for exports

Despite slow Chinese purchases, falling prices and cases of bird flu around the world, Brazilian meat exporters managed to end 2023 with record volumes in exports of beef, pork and chicken proteins. Revenues did not grow in all cases, but the outlook is for a favorable market in this new year. Shipments of pork, including fresh and processed products, totaled 1.2 million tons in 2023, reaching an all-time high, according to the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA). Volume was 9.8% higher than the previous year, despite sales to China having declined. Revenue from pork exports grew 9.5%, to US$2.8 billion, also a record.
