Meat production declines by almost 2% in Spain in 2023, with 7.4 million tons

Meat production fell by 1.98% in Spain last year, reaching 7.42 million tons, compared to the 7.57 million tons processed in slaughterhouses in 2022. All categories, except poultry, recorded declines , highlighting the case of the reduction in sheep/goats, according to the data provided by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA). Pork continued to be the main source of meat production in the country, with 4.85 million tons processed, 3.49% less than in 2022.
