The article highlights the success of the shrimp-rice model in Bac Lieu, Vietnam, a practice initiated by Government Resolution 09 in 2000, which permitted the conversion of inefficient lands into shrimp farms. Starting from 71,000 hectares, the model has expanded to over 200,000 hectares across the Mekong Delta, contributing significantly to shrimp production. In Bac Lieu, the model has been adopted for nearly two decades, covering more than 39,400 heas, or 33% of the province's shrimp farming area. Despite generating high income for farmers, the model faces challenges due to climate change. Tra Vinh province aims to develop 3,500 hectares of the rice-shrimp model by 2025, with plans to invest in supporting production transformations in two communes, Long Hoa and Hoa Minh.
