Mentan Amran Reveals Indonesia Will Be Self-Sufficient in Rice in Two Months

REPUBLICA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman promised that Indonesia can achieve self-sufficiency in rice within two to three months, or around December 2025 to January 2026. He mentioned that this achievement is the target set by President Prabowo Subianto, which is to achieve food self-sufficiency within one year of the government's term. "The President's target for us at the time of his inauguration was to achieve food self-sufficiency, especially in rice, within four years. Then, after 21 days, there was a slight change, the target of four years became three years," said Amran during a press conference at the Presidential Office, Presidential Palace Jakarta, Thursday (9/10/2025) afternoon WIB.
