The Alliance for Food Safety has successfully conducted safety training and events, reaching over three thousand producers and packers in Mexico. This initiative has led to the harmonization of laboratory processes between Mexico and the United States, aiming to swiftly address outbreaks associated with food products sold in both countries. The training has been particularly effective in the papaya industry, serving as a model for other commodities like onions. Additionally, the collaboration has led to the development of a protocol for reducing pollution risks in onion production and the harmonization of detection methods for Cyclospora cayetanensis and Salmonella, with plans for distance learning and face-to-face training events to share knowledge and advancement in whole genome sequencing technology.
