The European Commission is planning to ban the import of eggs from Ukraine to Bulgaria due to a significant increase in imports and the pressure it puts on domestic production. In the first half of 2024, Ukraine imported 2,618 tons of eggs, a fivefold increase from the previous year, at prices lower than Bulgarian eggs. Bulgaria's Minister of Agriculture and Food, Georgi Tahov, has highlighted that these import prices are harming the domestic market and has requested the ban to protect local producers.
