Belarus has significantly reduced its purchases of durum wheat varieties due to satisfaction with the quality of its domestic selections for baking and pasta production. The country's head of the main department of crop production, Nikolai Leshik, stated that only 15% of the total grain is used for bread and pasta production, with the rest serving as a raw material for processors and feed crop for farmers. The country is focused on improving both wheat varieties and processing technologies, aiming to produce products with high added value and earn substantial revenue.
