A recent survey by VnExpress in Ho Chi Minh City has revealed a significant increase in the price of snails, with a kilogram ranging from 490,000 VND to 1.1 million VND, representing a 30% rise from the previous month and double the price from last year. The scarcity of large-sized incense snails has been highlighted by retailers, attributed to disease outbreaks among snail farms, reduced farming areas, and increased demand from China. These factors, coupled with high input costs and the peak tourist season, have led to a tight supply and a steady rise in snail prices, affecting both local and export markets.
