MST invades Banco do Brasil farm in Rio Grande do Sul

More than 500 members of the Landless Workers' Movement (MST) invaded, on the morning of this Monday (25), an agricultural area that belongs to Banco do Brasil. The group's action, carried out at the Fazenda Rincão de São Brás, also known as Fazenda Barcelos, in Itapuã, in Rio Grande do Sul, aims to pressure the National Institute for Colonization and Agrarian Reform (Incra) to expedite the process of acquiring the area. According to the Movement, the area was being used for rice planting by an intruder, who had occupied the farm illegally. According to MST members, upon arrival at the site, illegal disposal of agricultural pesticides was found in the area on the banks of the Lagoa dos Patos.
