The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry in Malaysia will enforce the Festive Season Maximum Price Control Scheme (SHMMP) for 11 items from November 1 to 7, in expectation of Deepavali. The scheme aims to stabilize prices and supply of live chicken, chicken, mutton, chicken eggs, red chillies, tomatoes, coconuts, and grated coconut across 91 districts in Peninsular Malaysia, 27 districts in Sabah, and the Federal Territory of Labuan, with a limited implementation in Sarawak. The ministry will collaborate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry to ensure a sufficient supply and reasonable pricing of these items during the festive period. Enforcement officers will inspect and monitor shopping locations such as markets, farmers' markets, and supermarkets to ensure compliance with the set maximum prices.
