The National Andean Grains Day, celebrated on June 30, honors the nutritional value and economic contribution of grains such as quinoa, giant corn, chia, kiwicha, tarwi, and cañihua. The first four months of the year saw a 42.5% increase in international sales, reaching over 42.6 million dollars, with the United States being the primary trading partner. There was a notable increase in the export levels of quinoa, giant corn, and kiwicha, but a decrease in tarwi and chia sales. The majority of exports were made from regions such as Ayacucho, Apurímac, and Cusco, with projections for further growth in 2024.
