(Agraria.pe) The production of cocoa and chocolate generates a value added of more than S/ 866 million, signifying a contribution of 0.15% to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2024, reported the Ministry of Production (Produce). The head of Produce, Sergio González, stated that at the end of last year, cocoa bean production reached 159,700 tons, generated by more than 83,000 cocoa producers nationwide. "Cocoa is present in 16 of the 24 departments of Peru. Among the areas of highest production are San Martín (39.5%), Junín (22.1%), Ayacucho (10.9%), and Huánuco (10.7%), which together represent 83.2% of national production.
