New conditions come into effect for organic farming

At the end of August 2025, the European Commission approved the third amendment to the Strategic Plan for Agricultural Development, making official the changes proposed by the Ministry of Agriculture and the sector on various interventions. New requirements for organic farmers who declare a commitment to the "Organic Farming" intervention will also become a reality. Officially, 85 million euros are allocated for organic livestock from 2026. To become a reality and be legislated, the Ministry of Agriculture proposes changes to Ordinance No. 6 of 2023 on the conditions and procedures for implementing the "Payments for Agricultural Land in Natura 2000 Areas" intervention, included in the Strategic Plan for Agricultural and Rural Development of the Republic of Bulgaria for the period 2023-2027, while also making changes to Ordinance No. 9 of 2023 on the conditions and procedures for implementing the "Organic Farming" and "Organic Beekeeping" interventions from the Strategic Plan.
