LA UNIÓ Llauradora has reported the presence of a new whitefly species in the south of France, which affects citrus and other plant species. The pest, Alerucanthus spiniferus, has so far been found in 14 municipalities in the French region of Occitania. LA UNIÓ has called on the Ministry and the Ministry of Agriculture to take action to prevent the pest from entering Spain, as it would lead to increased costs for producers who are already facing challenges in controlling other whitefly species.
