Pilot program from the Ministry of Agriculture increases subsidy for soybean areas with better soil management

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) has started testing a new rural insurance model that takes into account the management practices adopted by the producer. This initiative, unprecedented in the country, is in the pilot phase and began with soybean cultivation in Paraná. A total of 29 areas, totaling about 2,400 hectares, have joined the program and have already contracted policies with different percentages of subsidy, which vary according to the care taken with the soil. The tool is part of the Agricultural Zoning of Climate Risk in Management Levels (ZarcNM) and uses methodology developed by Embrapa. The system classifies each plot into four levels, considering clear and auditable indicators. The better the management, the higher the subsidy paid by the government in the rural insurance.
