The US Meat Export Federation (USMEF) has introduced the U.S. Boston butt pork cut to the Colombian market through launch events in Medellin, Bogota, Cali and Cartagena. The events showcased eight potential products from the Boston butt, including ribs, steak, meatballs, sausage, cubes, pulled pork, ground pork and burger patties. The most promising product for Colombia's foodservice sector is the Boston butt burger. USMEF has developed this product in collaboration with three Colombian importers/processors and has received positive feedback. Funding for this initiative was provided by the National Pork Board, Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council and USDA’s Regional Agricultural Promotion Program.
