The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has suspected an outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) at Reynolds Game Farm, leading to the death of several pheasants. Preliminary tests suggest the presence of the H5N1 strain. The DEC is collaborating with the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets and the USDA to further investigate. The Game Farm has strict biosecurity measures in place and operates a certified pheasant flock under the USDA National Poultry Improvement Plan, which includes regular disease surveillance.
