In the mountains of Ayacucho, where the mist awakens before the sun and the air smells of damp earth, a woman sows the future of her family. At more than 2800 meters above sea level, in the peasant community of Chiquintirca, lives Nilda Ircañaupa Yaranga, a coffee grower who has turned daily work into an act of faith. For her dedication, she was recognized as the best coffee producer of the Valley of the Apurímac, Ene, and Mantaro rivers (Vraem) at the 2025 Summum Awards. Two decades ago, she decided to switch from potatoes, beans, and corn to the bean that today fills her home and community with aroma. On her three hectares, where varieties such as Geisha and Limaní grow, Nilda finds the inspiration to keep going every morning. "With coffee we have changed our life," she says with a serene voice.
