The US House Agriculture Committee has passed the Farm Bill, including provisions that address the concerns of the National Pork Producers Council (NPPC). These provisions aim to safeguard pork producers from foreign animal diseases, manage the challenges of California Proposition 12, increase market access for US pork, and protect herd health. The NPPC is advocating for funding to preserve FAD risk prevention programs and to address issues arising from Proposition 12. The organization also seeks additional resources for feral swine eradication, authorization of the National Detector Dog Training Center, and increased funding for the USDA’s Market Access Program to bolster exports and support the US pork industry.
