In 2024, North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), Germany, experienced a decrease of 8.1% in grain cultivation area, totaling 531,400 hectares. Despite this decline, wheat remains the most cultivated grain, occupying 19.6% of NRW's arable land, though its area has shrunk by 18.6%. However, the region has seen an increase in the cultivation of potatoes, grain maize, winter rapeseed, and sugar beet, with potato cultivation increasing by 10.0% and sugar beet by 14.3%. Silage maize and grain maize areas also expanded by 9.0% and 14.7%, respectively. These changes, along with other agricultural trends, are monitored by the Information and Technology North Rhine-Westphalia state statistical office to support informed decision-making in politics, economics, and society.
