Key stakeholders in the Egyptian olive sector, including producers, exporters, and farmers, have convened to discuss strategies for enhancing the quality of Egyptian olives and boosting their global competitiveness. The meeting, held in conjunction with the launch of an olive council, highlighted the need for advanced management practices, the establishment of agricultural schools, and the provision of industrial lands near agricultural areas. The group also stressed the importance of updating olive management applications, mechanizing harvesting, and employing biological control methods. Other points of focus included resolving issues related to late renewal of well licenses, expanding seedling production, creating a farm database, and reducing pesticide residues in olives. Additionally, the need for technical support for small farmers, establishing a fair market price, and improving packaging and export standards was underscored.
