Durian prices in Vietnam have seen a significant increase due to a limited supply and high demand, particularly from China. High-quality durian varieties such as Ri6 Ganyao and golden pillow are now priced at 143,000 VND/kg and 187,000 dong/kg respectively. This surge has led to a net profit of 120-150 million dong per hectare of durian orchard, nearly triple that of last year. However, increased customs inspections over concerns of excessive pesticide residues in Vietnamese durians and other agricultural products have been implemented in several countries. In response, the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is enhancing animal and plant quarantine and food safety measures to protect the country's agricultural exports.
